MHAT Training Offers:
Adult Mental Health First Aid Training
Is a skills based training that teaches people how to identify, understand and respond to signs and symptoms of mental health or substance use challenges in adults ages 18 and over. Adult mental health first aid can also be offered as a community-specific course such as: MHFA for Fire/EMS, Corrections Professionals, Public Safety, Military, Veterans and their Families, Older Adults and Rural Communities.

Youth Mental Health First Aid Training
Is a skills based training that teaches parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, health and human services workers and any other adult how to identify, understand and respond to an adolescent ages 12-18 who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge.

More Than Sad For Educators
Teaches educators and school personnel how to recognize signs of mental health distress in students and refer them for help, the warning signs of suicide, as well as the steps they can take to get help for at risk students. This training complies with the requirements for teacher education training in many states.

Teaches parents how to recognize signs of depression and other mental health problems, initiate a conversation about mental health with their child and get help.

Is intended for high school classes or community settings with groups of teens ages 14-18. This training provides young people mental health education and resources. Talk Saves Lives Standard
Is a education program that provides participants with a clear understanding of this leading cause of death, including the most up-to-date research on suicide prevention, and what they can do in their communities to save lives. Participants will learn common risk factors and warning signs associated with suicide, and how to keep themselves and others safe.

Talk Saves Lives Correctional Environment
Incarcerated individuals are particularly vulnerable to suicide, for a variety of complex reasons. This training provides corrections staff with information about what can be done to create a safer environment for people in custody, as well as providing a better understanding of resources available to help them take care of their own mental health. This presentation covers suicide prevention information that is applicable to corrections staff working with people who are incarcerated, as well as their role as co-workers.

Is a standardized suicide prevention presentation developed for the firearms community. These presentations may be delivered at an event held at a firearms club, retailer or association, or to firearms safety course instructors.

This presentation provides participants with the scope of the problem of suicide, key research findings, including risk factors and warning signs for suicide, along with recommendations for the role we can all play in suicide prevention.

We all have a role to play in preventing suicide, and those in the LGBTQ community may face additional challenges and barriers to help because of discriminatory factors. This new program informs more people of the best ways to provide caring and support to those who need it.
