The Mental Health Awareness Training Program is a program of Catholic Charities of Herkimer County and is made possible by grant #1H79S084276-01 by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Administration (SAMHSA).

MHAT offers a wide range of mental health and suicide education training courses designed to meet the needs of individuals, organizations, and businesses. We believe that education is the key to reducing the stigma surrounding mental health and suicide, and we are committed to provide quality training. We are passionate about making              a difference in the community and helping individuals to                     lead healthier, happier lives.

 

The National Alliance on Mental Health’s 2021 data, shows that 1 in 5 adults experience a mental health illness every year.

2,802,000 New York State adults, live with a diagnosed mental health condition. 

145,000 New York State youth, ages12-17  are experiencing depression, with more than half not receiving any medical care. 

The 2020 OMH Patient Characteristics Survey showed that for Central New York, 39.8% of youth, age 0-20 and 54.9% of adults, age 21-64 are estimated to have a serious mental health need which may require treatment and support services.
